Updating Blog Please proceed....

Please come check this out while I work on this blog: http://createevegenes.blogspot.com/ Pic of Parisian themed piece(s) for Windermere Real estate's upcoming charity auction for Children's Justice Center:

Murals, community and wonders BIG and small

After falling off of my blog's radar for a few months, I have decided it is high time to update and share. Autumn 2013 and spring 2014 look like they are chock full of large scale projects, sprinkled with a few little contests and challenges. I would like to thank the Vancouver Evergreen School District community, especially at Burnt Bridge Creek Elementary; the support staff, administration, and faculty have been so helpful and supportive of this year's groundbreaking school mural/public art project, and without their help this would be a daunting task. Thank you to Sherwin Williams also for their generous paint donation, and yes, I do plan to Paint the Earth as they say, one bit at a time... So, the first order of business for my wonderful daughter's school was to paint nine 36' x 48' paintings, each themed with the local geography, history, wildlife and learning focus as content; in order to complement the accompanying wall mural. The wall mural is a 25' x 12' wall facing the school's library area, running through a hallway that all classes access. The first painting, 'Salmon life Cycle' had content that is consistent with what the fifth grade students learn during a portion of biology in conjunction with visiting local hatcheries in spring. This one is complete, up and hung:
Painting #2 focuses on Southwest Washington's River system, and the factoids and importance of such prominent waterways. I am learning a lot about where I live doing this project, and I hope this has a ripple effect on the kids as well.
The paint is on the wall; here are the beginning photos of my humble work area and future place of finished large scale public art piece based on a 'Journey Through Literacy....'
Last but not least, my entries into the October Windermere Real Estate Children's Justice Center Gala Auction Show 2013, Featuring art from locals intended to be sold to benefit children traumatized or abused, make perpetrators of crimes accountable, and aid the healing process for the children. Great cause!
